The Avocado

Updated: May 19, 2022

An updated, throw back story written a few years ago.

The Avocado,

Mr. Nelson

I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalms 27:13-14

One of the things that I hate is waiting. I know that sounds awful but it’s the truth. I want everything now. Please Pray for me! I’m learning every day that some things should be done right away and other things need time to grow, mature and develop.

Since I’m a hyper person that need to be doing several things all at once. Three months ago I decided to start growing an avocado tree. At first I was all excited about the thought of doing something different and the prospects of the tree. I studied the seed process just to make sure that this tree doesn’t meet the same fate as many, if not all, of my other plants. What I learned is that it’s going take at least 5 to 6 years for this tree to bare fruit and not all trees bare fruit. I almost threw my seed in the trash. Despite by temporary disappointment, I decided to push forward with the process, study and learn how to take care of my avocado tree and wait for the fruit.

In Psalms 27:13, it tells me to wait on and trust in the Lord. It is so easy for me to believe the Lords goodness in someone else’s life but I don‘t alway believe for His goodness toward me and I’m not always willing to wait for it. As I did with the avocado tree, I’ve got to push forward. I’ve got to wait on the Lord and his timing, take courage and stay in faith and work.

Life can come at us fast. Desperation can set in and you can feel that you’re going no where fast. That waiting thing can be a bit brutal. Waiting doesn’t mean that we have to be idle. While you and I are waiting we can continue to do the work that makes us more marketable, pick up new hobbies and gain new skills and training. Faith without work is dead. God expects us to have faith and work at the same time.

Five years is a long time but I believe I will reap my reward if I don’t fate or give up or if I don’t kill the poor thing

My avocado tree is coming along quite well.

The funny thing is I don’t even eat avocados. Lol

Read James 5:7-8

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. update**** I’m sad to report that I did kill the poor avocado tree. The tree roots filled the bottom of the clear cup that I had it in and the water begin to smell so I decided to put the tree in soil and it went down hill from there🤫
